People or Profit?
President Yudof, what’s happening at UC today is not nearly as much about making up for a two-year budget shortfall of $800 million, as it is a struggle for the heart and soul of our great University.
This contest pits the twin values of access and excellence that have defined UC’s public service mission for 140 years against your new direction: ‘Profits over People.’
You are using the budget shortfall as an excuse to transform UC into just another mega-corporation with all the bloated executive salaries, jet set perks, showy new buildings and tough sacrifices by regular employees this change entails.
